Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on the 20th of October 1964, she is the 49th Vice President of the United States. She is also the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official in the United American. A part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and also as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her career began with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003 she was elected as the district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. She was a senator , and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, a pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally documented as well as the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. She was well-known for her direct questions to Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
